2nd post... end of first week.

Some of the team:

And we’ve been here just over a week now. And I’ll tell you what, I’m exhausted. But I can’t express how much I love it here. It’s really has been so incredible and we just got here. This past week has been our first week on Campus. We each were assigned a partner and then a Res (dorm). Amber and I are in SUNNYSIDE…. They call themselves Ciders. I wonder why?? Ha. But these girls, they are so wonderful. They make Amber and I just smile. We’ve gotten to spend some one on one time with them as well as go to two investigative bible studies. We are in awe of God here.

It is so amazing how fast I’ve gotten to know some of these girls. They are true friends already. I hope to continue to get to know them better. I pray that their hearts will grow toward God as ours do eachothers. I have a new name here. It is Palesa (pronounced “Puh-lay-suh”) which means Beautiful flower. I almost cried when I heard that. These girls really are so lovely… and the boys too; I just don’t know them as well.

Tee and Me

I didn’t think that I would fall in love so fast. I really thought it would take some time. But I’ve definitely fallen. SA is really wonderful. Last night we had a “braai” or cookout at the house of the men on staff with COJ. Over a hundred students were there. We danced like nothing I’ve ever seen before. I wish American cookouts/parties were like this… no one’s shy. It was so awesome. We also had some gooood food. I have not gotten sick yet.

At this point I’m just trying to get to know these girls continually. Pray for genuine friendships and real hearts. I don’t think it has been hard getting to know the girls who are already involved in the ministry… they’re great. But please pray for the new relationships to be had.

Some of the "ciders"

And some side notes.

*Currently we have California weather… no joke. Beautiful dry somewhat hot weather during the day. A chilly weather at night. We hear from the students it’s supposed to get freezing.
*We’ve had 2 Kumbis (big vans) break down on us… the first one when I was practicing driving up a hill…. Mind you stick shift.
*and The girls initiated us... with a fake ceremony.... they acted as though they were doing anscestor worship stuff... a common religion here. It was good. They definitely got us. Picture below.

I’m sure there’s more but that’s it for now.
Love yall,
Elisa
