Beach Project: Finally

So sorry it's taken me sooo long again to update. My sister's wedding seemed to take over my life and then the next day I was on a flight to Daytona. So now I'm at a little coffee shop that has wirelesss and I'm finally updating my blog.

Amanda's wedding was wonderful and it was really a beautiful picture about christ and who He is rather than Amanda and Jimmy. My brother David couldn't make it out there which was really hard on the family, especially Amanda and my little brother Isaac. But despite his physical absence, we could all feel his emotional and spiritual presence through a letter (he sent through his wife Allison who was able to be there). We knew he would be there if he could. And so after all was said and done, the wedding was here and gone. And i'm so happy for them. And as they headed to Kissemee, Florida on Sunday for their honeymoon, I headed to Daytona, Florida for the two months of this summer's beach project.

When I got here, I was sooo exhausted. I didn't realize how much entertainig and planning took out of you! A friend and fellow team leader, Julie Sigl, picked me up at the airport at 12pm and when I arrived at the hotel I hit the hay. I slept for a few hours, and by the time I woke up and had some energy, EVERYONE was back from church. And it was really crazy because I still needed some time to recover, so I didn't want to step outside. But as time went on, and our Sunday night meeting was in view, I began to show my face. I met soooo many new people that night.

So I've been here four days, and God's already teaching me so much. So much about roommates and leadership and being intentional about my time and so on. One thing I was kind of worried about (which I know I should immediately go to God wih all things) is that I would be tied down by structure and rules. Becuase to be honest, the last coulple of summers were looking that way. BUT, it hasn't been like that AT ALL!! Praise the Lord. I'm so thankful that He has brought me here this summer. It's so cool to get a glimpse of His glory through situations like these.

I have been able to spend a good deal of time with the three girls I'm discipling who are leading their room of 3 girls. It's such a great picture of discipleship. But I have also got to hang out and learn about other students here as well. Basically from the little time that I've been here Great things have been happening. One thing that I wasn't planning on was leading a group in lou of one of my disciple's absence. It was crazy becuase in that hour or two of our time together, I got to see into these two individuals lives that I hadn't ever seen or known super well before. And also, having roommates again has been an adjustment. Since I've been a Resident Assistant the last few years, I haven't had a roommate except on beach project. So I'm back at project and have roommates again. And it's been GREAT! I know it will get harder but it's cool to be humbled and know that everything can't be MY WAY (and it shouldn't). And so the Lord is teaching my about humility! I have to have it!!!

Anyway, sorry this is so lengthy and detailed I will catch up on the more important things in about a week or so. But one AMAZING thing is that 3 people have become christians since being down here. And one of them is on my team!!! Okay, well I will try to get to the coffee shop at least once a week, so please keep checking! Also, please comment to me if you would like the address down here and I will send you an email with it. I hope everyone is doing well. thank you for all your support for my summer!! Please continue to pray for it!!!
